From Bicycles to
Shower Doors
The Shower Door Place was founded in 2015 as a partnership between myself and my uncle Jim. I’d been working in the corporate world of the bicycle industry for nearly 20 years and was laid off from my job about the same time the opportunity of opening this store presented itself.
Jim and I explored the Twin Cities market extensively before writing our business plan and presenting it to a local bank to secure financing.
We found our first location in Roseville after an exhaustive search. This location turned out to be the right choice, and it remains our HQ today.
In the following months we turned the dusty, messy space into the Twin Cities premiere showroom for shower doors. We knew we were onto something when our first customer showed up before even opening our doors. Over the years of being in business, we grew in size and reputation. We added our second store, located in Minnetonka, in 2018.
It’s All in the Details
Our vision for The Shower Door Place is to be the best shower door company possible. We pride ourselves on going the extra mile to make sure each job is as perfect as possible. There are many challenges to this, which is why we only do frameless custom shower doors. Most of our competitors sell multiple types of glass and mirrors for a myriad of applications, which is fine, but it’s not what I wanted to do.
As simple as shower doors may appear, the type of shower doors that we install complex and detailed. Each step of the way requires close attention to detail so that we achieve a custom fit that looks great and functions correctly. Thousands of satisfied customers later, I think this decision has proven to be a good one.
